Bio

Meagan Crapanzano

I focused my eduaction  on Business matriculation, locking my creativity in a box and stifling my soul. It wasn't until my parents encouraged me to pursue the dreams of my youth once again. I went to my college advisor and told him to switch my major to photography. Shockingly he told me I wouldn’t graduate on time. Already racking up a brand new cars worth of debt, I just couldn’t afford it. However, he suggested if I went into Graphic Design I could study photography as an elective. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications and Design. While I studied photography on the side, I worked. However, life is expensive and so are good cameras. I understood the science of photography but had limited hands on experience with it. I worked hard and saved up to buy my Nikon D5200. As I opened the box I didn't realize then that I was also unwrapping a reality that was once just a dream. With a whole lot of heart and a great deal of amibition,  I am determined to become a professional  Photographer. Now, all I need is an exposure to better my skills and portfoilo.

I was born an Artist. As a Photographer, I paint with light.

I remember looking at the photos in National Geographic’s Magazine before I could even read the words. I remember the awe-inspiring photos which highlighted interesting   people, places and things from every corner of the globe. I wanted to be the explorer; discovering and documenting these moments, stories and ideas.

Somewhere along the line, I was manipulated by society. I lived my life carefully partitioned between what was safe and secure. I believe that becoming a professional photographer had the same odds as being an Opera Singer or an Olympic Athlete.
